The word vegetarian refers to a form of diet which includes only vegetables, fruits and excludes all kinds of flesh or meat products which involves poultry, seafood as well. However the dairy products are very much a part of this form of diet. People usually follow vegetarianism for reasons like religion, morality, because of their culture, society or simply their taste. However there are people who even turn vegetarian because of health factors like to maintain their body fitness,to reduce weight or to get rid of some disease, or even to achieve a nutritional diet value.

Vegetarianism has various forms like some people adopt to fruitarianism i.e a diet supported by fruits only, also raw vegetarianism where uncooked fruits, vegetables, and nuts are eaten. Then there is also an idea of turning to a Su-vegetarian diet which comes from Hinduism a religion followed mainly in India. In this type people avoid onions ,garlic and similar condiments along with animal flesh and fetid vegetables. Infact there people who follow the intake of semi- vegetarian diets where people limit themselves to consuming only a certain types of non-vegetarian products along with vegetarian products. Other forms of vegetarian diets include freeganism , dietary veganism, and macrobiotic diet.

Nowadays due to obesity, blood pressure, heart aches more and more people are taking to vegetarian diets, reason being vegetarian diet is quite balanced and has a very healthy nutritional; value as compared to non-vegetarian diets. It helps to maintain cholesterol levels , heart disorders and regulates blood circulation and is primarily considered a key factor for achieving a well-shaped body and to maintain the charm and beauty of the skin. Researchers say that vegetables essentially keep the body clean by filtering the waste effectively. Vegetables like beet root, bottle gourd, tomatoes, carrots are often prescribed by the dieticians to people who are longing for a healthy lifestyle.

Vegetables largely are far free and have ample amount of nutrients unlike animal flesh and are much cheaply available than non-veg. products which is why more often people choose to follow vegetarianism . Adding to this is the minimal risk factor of diseases…

The earliest traces of vegetarianism come from India and the ancient Greek culture of Italy and Greece as early as B.C.E 6th century where the main ideology for turning to vegetarianism was protecting animals i.e. keeping in harmony with animals. At that time vegetarianism existed in Europe as well however due to influence of christianization of Roman empire it vanished from Europe. Later however at the time of renaissance vegetarianism took to popularity in the 19th and 20th century. Infact the very first vegetarian society belongs to the continent of Europe, established by England, Germany, and Netherlands in the year 1847.

Though there are several reasons because of which vegetarianism still prevails but the most common reasons observed till date are mainly ethical reasons. It is a proven fact that most of grasslands are used to rear cattles. So in spite of rearing those cattles on such huge lands if we grow crops on these lands then it is quite obvious that we will easily overcome the ongoing dirth of food shortage but for that it is a must that we realize that vegetarianism can only help us bring about such revolutionary changes. Thus in today’s date think twice on your diet. Remember going green can feed not one but one hundred thousands at one time and save the cost a well.
